Why You Should Never Post Your Wallet Address to Prove You Are Rich
Showing off a balance feels harmless until you remember what a public wallet address actually is: a pointer to your money that anyone can follow.
What an address gives away
Balance, history, the exchanges you use and the habits you have. If someone ever links that address to your name, handle or face, they now know what you own and where.
Linking is easier than people think. A reply in a chat, a tagged post or a trade between friends can be enough.
The physical risk is real
Physical attacks on crypto holders, often called wrench attacks, are a known risk. Criminals who learn who owns a lot of crypto, and where they live, can target them in person. Publishing a wallet address or a large balance next to a name makes that job easier.
You do not need to scare yourself, but you should not make yourself an easy target.
How to prove funds without painting a target
Use a proof that states the balance and leaves the address out. A pof.lol receipt shows your name, the verified balance, the coin and the date. It does not show the wallet address.
More good habits
Use a separate wallet for public activity and keep savings elsewhere.
Do not post screenshots that show addresses in the corner.
Share proof with the people who ask, not with the whole timeline.
Limits
A pof.lol receipt is a snapshot of the balance at the moment you made the proof. It is not a live balance and it does not promise the funds are still there later.
A receipt reduces what you expose. It does not make anyone invisible, so keep the usual caution about who knows what you own.
